small residential solar power system

short video describing a small solar power system that i set up at my house. it consists of twelve 1 amp solar panels (15 watts each for a total of 180 watts of power – per hour). i use it to run all lights (CFL’s), fans, tv’s, and stereos in the house. also the microwave, coffee maker, blender, can opener, sandwich grill, toaster, vacuum, computer and anything else i can think of. run time for lights/fans only is approx 8 hours. add in vacuuming, microwaving or toaster along with lights, tv and the fans and the run time is reduced to 4-5 hours a day. i bought solar panels, inverter (1000 watt) and killowatt meter at Harbor Freight tools, the batteries (deep cycle) from walmart and the battery cables from checker auto. total cost was about 00 to 00 For the latest including EXTRA PICS and INFO. – Click on the “WEBSITE LINK” from my youtube channel page.

Are you currently considering the possibility of making your own solar power system? Perhaps you are but you’re unsure as to whether or not it’s even possible? Well, there are thousands of people in the exact same position as you are, and there are just as many who have taken it upon themselves to make their own systems in order to get free electricity to power their homes. You can be rest assured that you can make your own solar power system, providing you’re willing to learn how. In this short article will take a look at what it takes to make your own system.

First of all, you need to realize that it’s not necessary to be technically minded. Instead, you simply need a good set of instructions, bearing in mind that it’s a lot cheaper to make solar power systems than what it is to buy one which is already made.

Of course, if you intend making your own solar power system, there are certain materials you’ll require. Below is a list of the basic materials needed:

ü Sand paper

ü Metal cutting snips

ü Tower or stand

ü Electric Motor

ü Electric stovetop

ü Glass panels

ü Plywood or thin timber panel

ü Silicon sealant

ü Copper flashings

ü Copper wire

While these are the basic materials required, you may however need a few other materials, but this is something you’ll only be able to determine by doing a little bit of research before you begin making your system. The good thing is that you can find all the materials at your local hardware store.

As has already been mentioned, diy solar power is certainly cheaper than buying a ready made system, but it will require a little bit of research. Let’s just say that you should never consider trying to build your own system without having proper instructions. Bear in mind that if you try to make your own system and you don’t have any instructions, you’re probably end up having to do certain things over. Fortunately, there are nowadays several guides available capable of showing you how to make your own system and the great thing is that these guides will usually include step by step instructions, and even videos.

If you still feel you want to make your own solar power system, begin doing some research so that you can try and learn all there is to know about building them. Whatever you do, don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot make your own power, because the bottom line is; you can.

Setting up a solar power system

Solar Power Systems

Solar power systems are, simply, electrical power gained by harnessing the power of the sun. And the sun doesn’t charge us anything for this green, renewable and planet friendly energy. There are many concerns about how quickly we are depleting the remaining fossil fuels, and the decline of our air quality, which not only makes turning to solar power systems an idea rapidly growing in popularity, but moreover a straight forward path for clean energy in the future.

By installing a home solar power system you can lessen your power bills so dramatically that some people find themselves almost completely independent of their local power company.  This is because we can virtually access the sun every day of the week, twelve months of the year. Even on dull and cloudy days solar energy produces.

With more companies doing more research and study into improving the way we collect and utilize the sun, solar power systems have undergone many changes. They have become more efficient as well as more affordable. One of the greatest discoveries in recent years is the use and development of solar photovoltaic power systems.  These have helped to not only make solar power systems better, but smaller, too.

How Solar Panels Work

Individual photovoltaic cells are placed on a steel frame to make a complete solar panel. Each of these cells collects a wide spectrum of sunlight.  They are laid out in an overlapping pattern to make them more efficient at collecting and producing power. Many new solar panel systems use not only photovoltaic cells, but amorphous silicon thin alloys technology, as well.

Solar panel systems are now being based on this new streamlined technology that allows for small, thin panels rather than large, bulky ones.  They are also much better at capturing sunlight.  Added to that they are also more attractive to look at, and are one of the many solar power systems that can be easily incorporated into a variety of buildings.
